JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general ledger accountability, and financial reporting, as well as financial profitability analysis and other special projects as assigned. Some key duties:

  • Reconcile accounts payable, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts. May make correcting journal entries in assigned areas.
  • Posts data to general ledger following established accounting techniques and procedures.
  • Participates in the preparation of audits, financial statements, and varied fiscal reports.
  • Prepares monthly lease payments and perform related accounting functions.
  • Assist with monthly closing procedures.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required and at the discretion of management.
  • Provides input into goal setting.
  • Participate in Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) testing.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Enforces, enhances, implements Nicholas Financial policies and procedures by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the Corporation.
  • Successfully implements new accounting pronouncements.
  • Develop and advise on cost and reimbursement strategies.
  • Develops integrity and credibility by ensuring accurate and timely financial and accounting information.
  • May assist in the financial reporting- 10-Q’s, 10-K, “404” testing and compliance.
  • This position oversees and is responsible for cash management, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets as well as all quarterly branch profit and loss statements.
  • Ensuring that Nicholas Financial is in compliance and up to date on all licensing and federal and states taxes.
  • May track bonus calculations and payments for field personnel on monthly/quarterly basis
  • Is responsible for financial projections and credit line compliance reporting.
  • Assists with other projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability to perform the essential functions

  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Knowledge of Statutory accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages for general ledger. Great Plains experience preferred.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks.
  • The individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his / her work product.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors of Science in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university.
